Womenís Hormone Balance (60 Vegetarian Tablets)

Womenís Hormone Balance (60 Vegetarian Tablets)

Good 4 Life Women's Hormone Balance

Good 4 Life Women’s Hormone Balance is designed to be a comprehensive formula that supports a healthy balance of female hormones. It contains a smart blend of natural hormone like phytoestrogenic herbs, vitamins, and minerals that work synergistically to provide hormonal balance and control to women.  Used to benefit issues of hormonal imbalance in women especially when linked to lower estrogen hormone levels like the menopause, perimenopause, fertility issues, and postmenopausal issues.

Vitex Agnus Castus

Chastetree or Vitex Agnus Castus grows throughout the world  in subtropical areas and has been used for thousands of year for women’s health. Agnus Castus has a mild natural hormonal action and has been used by herbalists for a number of female hormone problems.

Gamma Oryzanol

Gamma oryzanol is a mixture of compounds extracted from rice bran oil that function as natural antioxidants. Recent Japanese research confirms that gamma oryzanol supplementation is very beneficial for female hormone imbalance problems, as well as being beneficial to cholesterol levels, and digestive functions.

Red Clover

Red clover is a member of the legume family. Isoflavones extracted from red clover contain all 4 different isoflavones (genistein, daidzein, biochanin, and formononetin), (soybeans contain only 2, genistein and daidzein). Red clover also contains flavonoid compounds called coumestans, which some early studies suggest have six times more estrogen hormone like activity than soy isoflavones.

Black Cohosh

Black Cohosh is a perennial plant that is a member of the buttercup family, and is native to North America. Rich in calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron, black cohosh root is also an abundant source of phytoestrogens.  Black Cohosh is used worldwide to combat the menopause.

Dong Quai

Dong quai is a member of the parsley family and is an important remedy in Chinese medicine.  Herbalists refer to it as “female ginseng”.  Dong quai has many tonifying properties that  support women’s hormone health.  Dong quai’s active ingredients include ligustilide and ferulic acid, research suggests that these compounds may be responsible for a number of potential health benefits. Dong quai also contains compounds that support a healthy central nervous system and is rich in vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, B12, and E. The plant part used is the root and the primary active constituents are ligustilides.

Eleuthero

Eleuthero is also called Siberian Ginseng and has been used for over 2500 years in China, primarily as an energy tonic.  Although it is a member of the ginseng family, it is of a different genus than other ginsengs. Eleuthero root is an adaptogen, the most active ingredients are called eleuthrerosides, which are glycosides that provide the adaptogenic properties. Research indicates that the glycosides may support healthy adrenal function.

Soy Isoflavones
Soy isoflavones are phytoestrogens, phyto is a Greek for plant, so phytoestrogens are plants with estrogen like activity. Isoflavones have been studied for a wide spectrum of health benefits for women. Soybeans and soy foods are the best dietary source of isoflavones. However, many soy protein products are  processed with alcohol and may not contain isoflavones. All of our soy products are processed using only water and are derived from soy that has not been genetically engineered.

Calcium, Magnesium and Boron Essential Minerals

Calcium is the most prevelant mineral in the body.  It is essential to optimal health and has numerous health benefits. Calcium helps with many metabolic and hormone processes.

Magnesium is essential for hundreds of hormone and other reactions in the body.  It is a coenzyme for proper function of nerves and muscles, formation of bones, and energy metabolism. New research confirms that it is of particular importance for proper heart function. Magnesium works synergistically with calcium by increasing its absorption and may increase bone density as well.

Boron is a trace mineral in the body that is important for metabolism and bone health.  Boron can help to prevent bone loss and supports healthy joint function. Boron is found in large amounts in the bones and in tooth enamel. Boron affects the metabolism of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, and Vitamin D.  Boron is essential for the conversion of Vitamin D to its active form, which promotes good calcium absorption.

Vitamin E and Selenium Antioxidants

Vitamin E is a potent fat-soluble antioxidant that prevents the oxidation of lipids that are key to the stability and integrity of cellular tissues and membranes in the body.  Its effectiveness is increased when taken with other antioxidants, especially beta carotene, Vitamin C, and selenium. There are a lot of studies that support the claim that Vitamin E is beneficial to hormonal health.

Selenium is a trace mineral and potent antioxidant that works synergistically with Vitamin E.  Together they protect cells from free radicals, support the immune system and cardiovascular health. Selenium is an important part of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which also works with Vitamin E to help prevent free radical damage to cell membranes. Selenium also protects the body form heavy metal toxicity.

Supportive B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6)

Vitamin B1 or Thiamin is involved in nearly every cellular reaction in the body and is essential for energy production and for the functioning of the nervous system. It is found in the skeletal muscle, the heart, liver, kidney, and brain. Thiamin is water soluble, therefore, any excess will be eliminated in the urine and must be replaced daily. During times of illness and stress the need for Vitamin B1 is increased.  The needs of B1 are increased by the use of caffeine, alcohol, estrogen (birth control pill), high sugar diet, sulfur drugs, and food additives.

Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin cannot be stored in the body so it must be supplied on a daily basis. The primary function of Riboflavin is that of a coenzyme for many metabolic processes in the body including red blood cell formation and normal function of the nervous system.  Riboflavin is also critical for the metabolism of amino acids and fatty acids. It supports the immune system and works as an antioxidant. Riboflavin maintains the mucous membranes of the body, including the digestive tract, respiratory tract, and excretory tract. Use of antibiotics, oral contraceptives, and alcohol interferes with the absorption of Riboflavin.

Vitamin B3 or Niacin (or Niacinamide) it is involved in more than 50 chemical reactions in the body. Niacin plays a key role in energy metabolism, it is needed by the body to extract energy from fat, carbohydrates, and protein. This formula uses nicotinic acid, the form of Niacin that is commonly recognized as supporting healthy cholesterol balance.

Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine has a role in over 100 identified biological functions in the body.  The US government estimates that nearly 33% of all adults are deficient in this nutrient and about 50% of all women do not get the Recommended Daily Allowance of Vitamin B6 (partly due to the fact that oral contraceptives will deplete this vitamin). Vitamin B6 is also involved in the formation of red blood cells, helps cells make proteins, manufactures neurotransmitters such as serotonin, and helps to release stored energy.

Folic Acid or Folacin or Folate needs to be replenished daily as the body cannot store it for long periods of time. Folic Acid is known for it's importance for women of childbearing age as there can be serious consequences for the fetus when Folic Acid levels are too low. Low Folic Acid levels are also linked to an increased risk of heart disease through an increase in homocysteine. Folic Acid deficiency is the most common vitamin deficiency in the world. Half of the Folic Acid in foods is depleted through cooking, processing and long-term storage; thus supplementation of this vital nutrient is highly recommended.
