Calcium – Magnesium Citrate (90 Vegetarian Tablets)

Calcium – Magnesium Citrate (90 Vegetarian Tablets)

What is Vegetarian Calcium Citrate & Magnesium Citrate

Our Vegetarian Calcium and Magnesium Citrate are vegetable encapsulated. Calcium Citrate has been documented to be well absorbed and utilized by the body. Published studies suggest that Calcium Citrate may be the optimal form of daily Calcium supplementation.

Our Calcium Magnesium Citrate is formulated to the medically recommended ratio of 2:1, and is delivered in a vegetarian tablet form in protective Dark Amber Bottles which are made from100%  Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic

Calcium and Magnesium together are fundamental to numerous body processes, especially bone density, muscle strength and nerve health. Calcium and Magnesium work together synergistically. Calcium is the building block of bones but Magnesium is needed to build strong bone crystals. When Magnesium levels drop, Calcium crystals are weaker allowing fractures to occur. This happens regardless of total daily consumption of Calcium. Muscle function needs both Calcium and Magnesium to be present, Calcium helps muscles contract while Magnesium helps them to relax.

Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Citrate

Published studies show that measured blood levels of Calcium demonstrate that Calcium Citrate is about 2.5 times more bioavailable than Calcium Carbonate.

This formula uses the citrate salt of Calcium; Calcium Citrate has been documented to be well absorbed and utilized by the body. Published studies suggest that Calcium Citrate may be the optimal form of Calcium supplementation; these studies concluded that individuals might benefit more by taking a Calcium Citrate supplement as opposed to common Calcium Carbonate supplements. These studies compared the Calcium absorption of a Calcium Citrate formulation and a Calcium Carbonate formulation after an oral dose of 500 mg taken with a meal.

Also if constipation occurs, Calcium Citrate is a better option than Calcium Carbonate. Studies also show that Magnesium Citrate is also more soluble and better absorbed than other forms of Magnesium. Mag Citrate does not appear to cause as many gastrointestinal symptoms often associated with other forms of Magnesium.

Calcium Deficiency Overview
Calcium is the most prevelent mineral in the body at 2.5 pounds, mostly stored in the bones and teeth. Less than 1% of Calcium circulates in the bloodstream and the cell fluids. Calcium absorption actually declines with age and when the fluds become Calcium deficient they take calcium from the bones, causing osteoporsis. Calcium supplementation is the best way to avoid Calcium Deficiency.

More recent studies suggest that is of particular importance for proper heart function. Magnesium works synergistically with Calcium by increasing its absorption and may increase bone density as well. The body stores most of its Magnesium in the bones, 25% in the muscle tissues and the rest is stored in the soft tissues of the body. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 75 percent of Americans are deficient in Magnesium. Reasons include the lack of magnesium, and excess of salt,  in processed foods, high Calcium intakes, stress, physical activity, alcohol, and certain medications.
